Whoa. Anybody just go through a period of not being able to reach any of
the *.io.com hosts? It looks like their DNS servers and/or replication
went down for a couple of hours tonight, between 5:00 and 7:00 CST. I
could still get into eris and fnord by their real IP number, but
everything internal to the shell hosts resolves by name so news and mail
weren't reachable. Just curious to know if anybody else saw the same
issues.

-KKC, who wonders why Usenet isn't more civil if the average age among
users is going up.

result in a geometric disturbance conducive to the resurrection of Cthulhu.
Disregard this rule if the meat in the nuggets is not actually chicken.

You're not alone...it got me then, too, while I was trying to post an
article. (We're older and crankier because we've earned the privilege,
dammit. ;-)

...and now we know why. Prismnet has changed their news services, dropping
Giganews and picking up Time Warner. DNS resolves news.io.com to
news.twtelecom.net now, which is annoying as all hell because Time Warner
doesn't do fully world-wide propogation or replication. Through a
ridiculous confluence of events, I happened to have a separate Giganews
account and that's what I'm posting through now.

Any old IO shell users who need help setting up their newsreader to use
multiple news hosts, feel free to e-mail me. Although I figure me, Patrick
and Wrat are the last three at this point. :/
