New MOTD related to spam
(too old to reply)

As all the posts here are related to the MOTD or spam lately, it's nice to
see the two topics converge. :) Prismnet is apparently no longer accepting
mail at the userhost DNS names. That means you have to be ***@io.com in
SMTP traffic, and not ***@eris.io.com or ***@fnord.io.com or whatever.
I'm just glad to see that they're still making use of the MOTD to inform
people. Are there still enough of us shell users to warrant good treatment
like that?

-KKC, who wonders if a legal disclaimer on SMTP traffic sent into gmail
servers is binding or not. "This message may not be stored or archived
without the express permission of the author," or something like that...

-- William MacDonald is a police investigator in Galveston. For - kendrick
him, the evidence as presented is irrefutable. The endeavor to - @io.com
capture and convict the suspects must succeed, for Mr. MacDonald -
is keenly aware of duties entrusted to him by virtue of a government salary.

Which is awkward since usenet reply-to's still seem to have
fnord.io.com or whatever... Not that I post from here anymore :-)

I count myself lucky that this account still works... I'd like
to keep it because I get a kick out of telling people that I have email
accounts older than they are :-)

IANAL but probably not. It's my understanding that data on your
machine is yours unless you put it there illegally.

That's settable in tin, anyhow. I can set my 'From' to anything,
although tin complains if the TLD isn't one of the standard ones
or 'invalid'.

This will add the added benefit of scanning outgoing email for viruses and
detecting how 'spammy' a message is.
:-) But these are shell accounts! (Aren't they?) No viruses
here... The spammy part is a little worrying though, good thing I don't
have large aliases.

`O/\/\/\/\/\ <<-- here's a worm to feed your virus scanners. :-)
